Abstract:
Space geodetic technology greatly advanced the study of earthquakes and volcanoes. Among them, GPS has offered us opportunities to study crustal deformations on local to global scale in space and on second to decade scale in time. I introduce the recent results of crustal deformation studies using GPS with a special emphasis on the great Sumatra-Andaman earthquake and its impact on the seismic hazard in southeast Asia.
