The Kyoto University Active Geosphere Investigations for the 21st Century Centers of Excellence (KAGI21) has been involved in interdisciplinary research and education programs in geophysics for the past 4 years. This symposium presents some of the key results and opportunities for future research in a range of Earth science disciplines, that have resulted from these efforts.

3. Objectives for the Symposium

This Symposium is mainly for the members and students of KAGI21 with some special invited guests. The meeting will provide an opportunity to review some of the accomplished research results and discuss plans for future projects. The sessions of the Symposium will address broad interdisciplinary studies that should be of interest to all participants. We have chosen several topics in which KAGI21 researchers have been working and have potential for future interdisciplinary studies. All KAGI21 members and students are requested to attend the sessions on December 4 and 5. There will also be posters for presenting the results of individual research.
